This Transport for NSW initiative is tailored for learner drivers under 25 who have completed at least 50 hours of on-road driving, including some night-time driving (excluding any bonus hours). It includes:
- 3-hour group theory session—covering speed, gap selection, hazard awareness, safe following distances, and handling distractions
- 2-hour in-car coaching—practical exercises with another learner in a dual-controlled vehicle
Completing both sessions (either together or on separate days) earns 20 bonus logbook hours, reducing the standard requirement to 100 of the 120 supervised hours needed before progressing to your P-plate licence. The course costs $140, though 1,000 free places per year are available for participants from disadvantaged backgrounds or Aboriginal communities holding eligible concession cards
Available widely across NSW, you must book directly with an approved provider—check with your local centre for session availability
